Developing your own keyboard

Writing/ Developing your own keyboard is easy task,

follow the steps given below and you will have your own keyboard in your cellpahone.

1. Create a normal Android Project using Android Studio.

2. Edit Application tab in Manifest;
    Add the following lines into Application tab

<service
    android:name=".utils.SoftKeyboard"
    android:permission="android.permission.BIND_INPUT_METHOD">
    <intent-filter>
        <action android:name="android.view.InputMethod" />
    </intent-filter>
    <meta-data
        android:name="android.view.im"
        android:resource="@xml/method" />
</service>

<activity
    android:name=".activities.ImePreferences"
    android:label="@string/settings_name">
    <intent-filter>
        <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" />
    </intent-filter>
</activity>

3. Create a folder "xml" in res and Create method.xml

paste following line to method.xml

<input-method xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
    android:settingsActivity="com.example.android.softkeyboard.ImePreferences"
    android:supportsSwitchingToNextInputMethod="true">
    <subtype
        android:imeSubtypeLocale="en_US"
        android:imeSubtypeMode="keyboard"
        android:label="Ankit" />
    <subtype
        android:imeSubtypeLocale="en_GB"
        android:imeSubtypeMode="keyboard"
        android:label="Ankit" />
</input-method>

4. Create input keyboard layout input.xml in res/layout

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<com.divyankit.keyboard.utils.LatinKeyboardView
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
    android:id="@+id/keyboard"
    android:layout_width="match_parent"
    android:layout_height="wrap_content"
    android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" />
